iPhone 16首周末销量下滑12.7% 果链厂商面临困境

iPhone 16 series will be officially available for sale on Friday, September 20th, with four models starting at 5,999 yuan, 6,999 yuan, 7,999 yuan, and 9,999 yuan respectively.

However, the latest forecast report from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shows that the pre-order sales of the iPhone 16 series during its first weekend are expected to be around 37 million units, a decrease of approximately 12.7% compared to the first weekend sales of the iPhone 15 series last year.

In addition, Apple's stock price fell more than 3.85%, reaching a new intraday low of $213.92 since August 9th.

Supply chain companies related to Apple, such as TSMC ADR, Nanya Technology, Micron Technology, and Infineon Technologies, also experienced varying degrees of decline in their stock prices.

Kuo believes that the main reason for the lower-than-expected sales of the iPhone 16 series is the lower demand for the iPhone 16 Pro series, and its shipment time is significantly earlier than the previous generation.

The Apple Intelligence, which is the biggest selling point of this series, did not launch along with the iPhone 16 series, and the intense competition in the Chinese market also had a negative impact on the demand for the iPhone 16.

Despite these challenges, Kuo still stated that there would not be significant changes to the supply chain's production plans in the short term.

He predicts that with the release of Apple Intelligence in the fourth quarter and the implementation of peak season promotions, the shipment volume of the iPhone 16 is expected to further improve.

At the same time, he also believes that Apple will adopt a more aggressive product strategy in 2025 to boost demand.
